Woodland Center for the Arts
The Woodland Center for Arts and Crafts is a program of Lutherlyn designed to bring opportunities for creative expression, arts education, and spiritual formation. This program currently has these specific specialties:

The Studio is on the grounds of Camp Lutherlyn near Prospect, PA. The pottery studio can accommodate 10 students. The Blacksmithing Forge can accommodate 4 students. Quilting, Fiber Arts and Painting do not have a strict limit.
Meals are prepared by our chef and served buffet style in our dining room. Our chef and staff can accommodate dietary requirements as necessary. Please include any dietary requirements with your registration form. Our chef may contact you for additional information shortly before your stay.
Beginner Blacksmithing – This class is an introduction to using the forge, hand tools, vise, and anvils. It will start you on the path to developing the core skills of smithing: drawing, tapering, hot cutting, hot punching, forge welding, bending, twisting, scrolls and leaves. All materials and supplies are included.
Quilting - No assumptions are made regarding experience. Students will be advised in purchasing fabric before the class. All other supplies are included (bring your sewing machine if you have one. Let us know if you need one). See dates for specific techniques and classes.
Fiber Arts - Weaving, papermaking, journal making, batik, and printmaking classes offered throughout the year open the door to this incredibly versatile and expressive medium. Some require minimal supplies.
Painting – This 2 hour painting experience includes all of the supplies needed. Come on your own or get together a group of friends to paint together! 10am-noon.
Beginner Pottery – Pottery classes for groups of 6 -10 can be scheduled according to the availability of the instructor and facility. This class is designed as an introduction to pottery, hand building, and the basics of wheel throwing. All materials and supplies are included.* Time does not permit a class project to be taken through glaze firing. Your registration fee includes 1 return visit for the purpose of finishing a successful piece you may create in this class. Please call 724-865-2161 to schedule.

All Blacksmithing, Quilting, and Fiber Arts Classes are 9 am - 5 pm and include lunch (with the exception of June 3rd's Quilting class which will be held 8 am - 4 pm). Painting classes are 10 am - noon and do not include a meal.

When registering, indicate you first and second choice dates on your registration form. You will receive a confirmation with your class date and other important details.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations will be accepted up to 14 days prior to the class with a $40 cancellation fee. Within 14 days of the scheduled class, refunds will not be given unless there is an emergency.
- Groups of adults can reserve a full class session for a private party or contact Lutherlyn to schedule a private event.
- Lutherlyn offers 4 crafting retreat throughout the year. Visit Lutherlyn’s Calendar of Events for more information.
- Classes can be added on to weekend retreats at Lutherlyn. If you are bringing a group for a retreat, ask about adding on a 2-3 hour art class.
